webCOMAND Customization

Once familiar with the user interface, you may want to customize it to your preferences.

Customize the Header

Header customization from the user interface is not implemented yet.  However, the header can be customized with a com.webcomand.framework.quicklinks User Setting that references one or more Quick Links.

Each element of the header can be customized or used to customize other aspects of the interface.

  • Logo - Drag an object, collection or cPath (from a cPath UI's path bar) to the Logo to add it to the dashboard, without adding it as a Quick Link. Next time the Logo is clicked, the new item will be displayed furthest right on the dashboard. To further customize the new item, see Customize the Dashboard.
  • Quick Links - Drag an object, collection or cPath (from a cPath UI's path bar) to the Quick Links bar and existing Quick Links will move to make room and illustrate where the new item will be inserted when dropped. Right-click or touch and hold an existing Quick Link to customize the corresponding title, icon, cPath, badge condition or default "Open With" app. Click and drag an existing Quick Link to adjust its position relative to the other Quick Links.

Customize the Dashboard

Dashboard customization from the user interface is not implemented yet.  However, the dashboard can be customized with a com.webcomand.framework.dashboard User Setting that references one or more Dashboards.

Dashboard components, their positions, widths and heights can be customized.

Dashboard Components

New dashboard components can be added in two ways: drag items to the Header Logo or click the New button to the right of all component icons in the header when the dashbaord is active.

Existing dashboard components can be removed in two ways: right-click/tap-hold the corresponding header icon or title bar, and click Remove from Dashboard.

The position of a dashboard component can be adjusted by dragging the corresponding icon in the header or title bar over others. The others will make room to illustrate the new position if dropped.

The width and height of a dashboard column can be adjusted by dragging the right or bottom edge, or right-click/tap-hold the component title bar. Dashboard component can not be made wider or taller than the screen.

Right-click/tap-hold to included or remove the component from the Quick Links by checking or unchecking "Show Quick Link".

The view in each dashboard column can be further customized from the cPath UI's menu.

Customize a Content View

Content Views display an object or collection of objects in a dashboard column and various app panels. They can be customized in a variety of ways.

  • Back - No user customization is possible, but it is hidden before navigating to another path, and after it is used to navigate back to the start.
  • Title / Path - The double-arrows can be clicked/tapped to switch between the display of just the title of the last object or collection in the path, or each element in the entire path, which enables quick navigation to any point in the path. More advanced users can also click/tap the Edit Path button to the right of the title / path to reveal and edit the cPath query directly.
  • Views - To display the path object or collection in different ways, select the desired view from this drop-down menu. Only views capable of displaying the object or collection are listed and the current view is highlighted. Select "Automatic" to let the system choose the best view.
  • Menu - If the screen is too narrow to fit the options above, they will be available to the far right of the title bar from the "hamburger" drop-down menu, which reveals these and other customization options. For example, the actions and filters toolbars can be turned on and off.
