Grid View - Edit Mode

Navigation & Editing

The mouse, touch screen and keyboard are used to navigate and edit cells.

Hold down SHIFT on the keyboard to highlight the entire row on mouse hover and open the corresponding content item on click.  This is the standard Grid View behavior.

Click or tap a cell to focus it.  A blue border appears around the focused cell, making the following options available:

  • Click, Tap, ENTER or F2  - Edit the cell value with one of the Editors.
  • Arrow Keys - The left, right, up and down keys will navigate to the corresponding cell.
  • Tab / SHIFT+Tab - Navigate to the next / previous cell, wrapping to the next or previous row.
  • ESC - Cancel the currently focused cell, back to the initial grid view state.

Editors

When editing a cell, one or more of the following editors will display depending on the field type.

  • Typing Input - Numbers, text, dates, times and timestamps will display a typing input with the cursor placed at the end of the current value.  Edit the field value as you would in Form View, with the following additional keyboard options available.

    • ENTER - Store changes and refocus the cell below.
    • F2 - Store changes and refocus the cell.

  • Date, Time and Timestamp - These field types will provide a Typing Input along with a popup date and/or time picker.
  • Color - This field type will provide a Typing Input along with a popup color picker.
  • Links - If the cell represents a single or multi-link field used to reference other content items, a popup will display, where one or more items can be selected as you would in Form View.
