webCOMAND 2.27 Released

COMAND Systems today released a new version of webCOMAND, the robust content management system powering their website, intranet and extranet solutions.  webCOMAND 2.27 features a new dynamic hierarchy tree, additional publication options, rich-text editor improvements and several “bug fixes.”

webCOMAND's new hierarchy functionality should be particularly useful to COMAND Systems' clients.  By visualizing content hierarchies within list view, it is easier to manage content records and understand their relationships.  The new dynamic tree also makes it possible to show and hide portions of records with familiar expand (+) and contract (-) controls.

This is the seventh webCOMAND upgrade released this year, reflecting COMAND Systems' commitment to service and responsiveness to clients' needs and experiences with the system.  As always, the new version is available to all COMAND Systems' clients as an optional upgrade at no additional charge.

webCOMAND 2.27 additions:

  • New dynamic hierarchy tree displayed in list view when a content type's first displayed field is a recursive field (a reference field with the same type as the content type it resides in).
  • Order functionality in list view updated to keep content records ordered directly under their parent.  New content records are now added to the bottom of the list of content records with the same parent, instead of at the bottom of the entire list.
  • New "terminate" option allows users to force an active publish process to stop immediately, even if it is in the middle of processing.  The "cancel" option is still also available, to more gracefully stop an active publish process once it has completed publishing the publication procedure in progress.
  • New "Unlink" rich-text editor toolbar button added to provide more obvious way to remove links from web page text inside the rich-text editor.
  • Rich-text editor "Clean HTML" toolbar button has been broken out into two buttons, "Clean HTML" and "Clean Word HTML", to provide additional control over what type HTML code is cleaned up.
  • "Publication Files" are now called "Publication Procedures" to more appropriately label these powerful webCOMAND components, which have evolved to do a lot more than publish files.  Publication Procedures can send emails, process external files, manipulate content records and perform other tasks during the publication process.
  • New option added to disable replication of database tables before publishing.  This option helps improve publish speeds during development and for projects that do not require multiple users or version control.
  • New dynamic alert bar added to web interface to help report and debug events and errors that may occur while using the system.  For example, the new alert bar displays errors that may occur when user-defined COMAND Script is processed while generating user-defined web interface elements, such as content record summaries.

webCOMAND 2.27 fixes:

  • Rich-text pop-up editor area now resizes properly in all supported web browsers.
  • Fixed template::FindReplace code that caused infinite loop when find text was an empty string.
  • #INSERT now processes the corresponding content type template in the context of content records passed with the #INSERT statement as a variable instead of a content type/key pair.
  • COMAND Script processor fixed to no longer process non-COMAND Script fields as COMAND Script when another COMAND Script variable with the same name was created and removed in a deeper scope.
