Sharing Content

Content can be shared with others using specific permissions. The contact you are sharing with may be another webCOMAND user or anyone with an email address. If shared with another webCOMAND user, they will be required to sign in to access the content.

Access

Sharing is always done through a URL that contains a randomly generated key. You can unshare the link at any time to revoke access to the content from the share link in the future. While the key makes the link virtually impossible to guess, it is possible for people besides the person you shared the content with to obtain the URL. With that in mind, one of the following access options can be specified when sharing content.

  • Link - Share the content with anyone that obtains the link. No password or webCOMAND account is required.
  • Password - Share the content with any of the permissions above, but also require a password.
  • Sign In - Share the content with any of the permissions above, but also require the contact can sign in to webCOMAND with their own user account. If they do not already have a user account and webCOMAND is configured to allow sign ups, a non-user can sign up with the shared email to access the content.

Permissions

One or more of the following permissions can be specified when sharing content.

  • View - Share a link to the content, which allows the content to be viewed (read-only) in webCOMAND.
  • Edit - Share a link to the content, which allows the content to be viewed and modified in webCOMAND.
  • Copy - Share a link to the content and allow the content to be downloaded and/or copied to another repository.

Instead of the options above, you can share the content with the authorizations associated with a specific user by selecting the user when sharing.
